Nathalie DeSousa's Blog Posts

Hi there!  Nathalie with you today with a new project that celebrates all the fun, cold and so very wonderful memories that Winter brings with it.   The new Simple Stories Freezin' Season  with its vibrant colors and cute designs is just perfect to document all those winter memories in a fun and colorful page.

To create this page all about this year's first snow fall in Toronto, I pulled a few cut files from the Silhouette store and Just Nick Studio. My idea was to bring snowflakes and a large title to tell the story of the day

I chose to cut the stars from white cardstock and back them with papers from the Freezin' Season collection.  I also decided to hand stitched the title -cut from the Frosty Friends paper- to a white cardstock offset, so that it would stand out on the page.

Before starting to handstitch the title, i added a bit of white acrylic paint to the Snuggle up paper so that it would white/lighten a bit of the background, and let it dry while i completed the title work.

Once it all ready, I used some foam adhesive to adhere everything to the background.  Then it was all about embellishing!  First i added a few stickers at the bottom corner of the title, and then added a few snowflakes also cut  from the Frosty Friends paper.

SInce the picture is nestle between the title and star, i just added a cluster made up of stickers and die cuts to the top right corner of the picture.  I will be adding the lines of journal to the bottom of the layout in a later date.

I really hope this inspires you to pick the new Simple Stories Freezin' Season collection, it is colorful and so versatile, too.  I cannot wait to see all your projects created with it.

Have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi Simple Stories friends!

Nathalie with you today with a  festive page that is sure to bring the Christmas Cheer to your holiday season.  The new Simple Vintage Christmas collection from Simple Stories is a beautiful combination of vintage elegance with classical colors and layered details, and the perfect collection to create a sweet keepsake of last year's Christmas memories.

I started by creating the Holy frame using a cut file (Citrus Twist Kits) and backing it with papers from the 6x8 paper pad, having the same patterns as the papers but in a smaller scale makes it ideal to back the leaves of the frame.

The frame was then handstitched to the Be Merry paper - i added a few stamped images so that faint script of the paper shows through the background-, and then trimmed to size.  This was then glued to the Believe paper.

Once it was all set up, i used the layered frames to add my pictures to the bottom of the page ( i cut one of the double frames, so that they both can fit at the corner of the frame).

There are so many beautiful stickers, tags, and pieces of ephemera to chose from that it makes it so simple to add details in clusters around the layout

To finish this page, I followed the layered look of the collection design to create the title for this layout at the top left corner of the frame.  To finish a few drops of gold and white ink, lines of journal will be added to the back of the page later on.

The beautiful Simple Vintage Christmas from Simple Stories is not just gorgeous, but also versatile and packed with so many details you will fall in love with each piece.   Remember to check it all out!

See you all soon!

Hi there! Nathalie with you today to share with you a layout all about the most joyful time of the year, Christmas.  The new Simple Stories collections are so festive and joyous that it was hard to chose which one to use to document a picture of my littles (niece and nephew).   Well, after much debating, I went for the new MERRY and BRIGHT collection to create this page.

To build this page, I used a Paige Evans cut file to create the wreath base from the 4x6 Horizontal elements paper and vellum, and then handstitched them to the Sn@p Basic 12x12 Cream ledger paper.

Next the poinsettas were created using a cut file from Just Nick Studio from the It is a Wonderful Life paper and another paper from the 6x8 paper pad.  To break some of the red, i used a paper from the High Style paper pad to cut a few poinsettas, too

The flowers were built and glued onto the page.  Then i used a Silhouette design to cut the ivy and pine leaves that are layered under the flowers from the Joy and Happiness paper.

The picture was then added in the middle of the flower cluster, and then just a few embellishments from the chipboard, puffy and cardstock stickers were added around it.  To finish the page, the title was created using a die cut piece from the Merry and Bright collection along with a few more stickers.   A few gold and white ink splatters complete this page.

Love how this turned out, and i am sure my sister will be framing this page as a Christmas decor piece for her home.  I hope you are all inspired to check the new Merry and Bright collection from Simple Stories,  it is sure to help you record all your upcoming memories.
