Jana Eubank's Blog Posts

Hi, Everyone! Jana Eubank here!

My daughter just moved back home from her first year at college and I wanted to document her first "Home Away from Home" ... her dorm room that she has been living in for the past year. The Domestic Bliss collection was the perfect answer!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

I had taken several photos of her room the day we moved her in last Fall, along with a shot of the outside of her dorm building. I included them all together on this page.

I cut the "HOME" letters out from one of the cards from the 4x6 Horizontal Elements Paper to use as my title. Behind the letter "O" I included one of the pie chart circle die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack.

The smaller "HOME" letters are from the 4x6 Sticker pack. I adhered the letters to white cardstock and trimmed them out using scissors to give them a white outline. I used the Snap Color Vibe Bolds Letter Stickers for the other words in the title.

I book-ended my title with the Decorative Brads to give it even more personality! I love them here!

For some reason, that cute couch icon included in this collection just said "dorm" to me! I cut this one out of the same sheet of 4x6 Horizontal Elements Paper that I used for the "HOME" letters. Doesn't that couch look inviting?! ... Like it's just waiting for 6 college girls to pile on it and start gossiping about their dating and class experiences!

At the bottom of the page, I added a couple more decorative icon brads, as well as the date, stamped on one of the label stickers from teh 4x6 Stickers pack.

I love when I find my kids asleep on the couch or in various other places around our house. To me, it means they feel safe, they feel cozy ... they feel at home. And that is what this next page is about.

HOME

I used a sheet of the Aspen/White Basics Notebook paper as the base to my layout, matting it with a sheet of the Bless This Mess paper.

Next, I used various papers from the 6x8 paper pad to build up some delicious patterned paper layers behind my two photos. The smaller scaled patterns are perfect for layering together in a situation like this!

I cut the letters "HOME" from one of the 4x6 cards of the Snap Pack and then added a house and heart die cuts from the Bits & Pieces die cuts. Everything is stitched and anchored to a strip of striped paper from the same 6x8 paper pad.

I hand cut the large hearts from the 6x8 paper pad and drew an outline around each one of them with a black journaling pen to match the outlining preprinted on the title letters. I then used my sewing machine to stitch them to the left side of the page, sprinkling them in a waterfall fashion and bending up each side of the heart for dimension.

I added my journaling with a black journaling pen, using the lines of the background notebook paper as a guide. A few enamel dots sprinkled here-and-there adds even more color and dimension.

Do you have sweet pictures like this of your children or loved ones asleep? Don't they look angelic in those photos? Why not use those photos to document what makes them feel safe and secure or what brings them comfort in your home?

Have a great week!

Hello! Jana Eubank here with my first post as a new Creative Team member! I'm so excited to be here! Simple Stories is one of my very favorite paper companies and I adore working with their collections.

Today I have two scrapbook pages for you. The first one is documenting my children enjoying their Easter baskets on Easter morning.

I cut a couple of angled strips of the Hip Hop Hooray paper (using both of the patterns) to go across the top and bottom of my page.

In the top right corner I created a fun embellishment cluster by tucking several stickers into one of the strips. The two phrase stickers and floral sticker help to visually anchor the cluster.

For my title, I fussy-cut the "Happy Easter" from the 4x6 journaling Cards Elements Paper. I added the adorable bunny face sticker (my favorite!) to the left and then sprinkled in several of the heart stickers. I matted each of the heart stickers with white cardstock, so that they had the same feel to the other stickers I was using on the page.

I loved the little saying on the Easter Egg 4x6 Journaling Card and wanted to add it to the bottom of my page. I used my trimmer to cut it out and then adhered it below the photos. I placed Easter eggs and the cute little chick on either end as accents.

I love these adorable patterns from this set! They help add a spring-timey feel to these Easter morning photos even though my kids are still in their pajamas. LOL!

When my daughter turned eight years old, she was baptized by my husband. I couldn't wait to use the adorable Faith collection to record her special day and into our memory books!

I loved the navy Shine Paper with all of it's inspirational messages and decided to use that paper as the base to my layout. I clustered together several fun phrase stickers and hearts in the corners of my two photos to help tie them in with the title and draw your eye around the page.

I love these photos of my daughter and my husband, they were just radiating with goodness that day and the hearts and flowers perfectly convey my full heart and emotions as I looke at these two special people in my life!

I die cut my title using my Silhouette Cameo machine. I cut each phrase/letter out of two colors of cardstock to create a shadow effect. The letters of the word "heart" are embossed with an embossing folder to add more texture. I think they help repeat the cute fleck pattern of the pink and yellow photo mats at the top of the page, too!

To the left of the title I fussy-cut some of the feathers from a journaling card to use as a page accent. I added white crochet twine to the stem of each feather for more texture.

The feathers and title are all anchored on a strip of striped Grace paper. On the right side of the strip I added two of the epoxy metal clips. Aren't they cute?! I love adding in different textures, like metal, to my pages. The epoxy at the top of the clips and on the decorative brads add a bit of shine, too!

I hoped you enjoyed seeing my pages today and that they inspired you to scrapbook some of your favorite family memories!

Thanks for coming by! See you again soon!
