Kristine Davidson's Blog Posts

Hello friends!

It's Kristine Davidson here today with two layouts featuring the Simple Set - Hello Lovely.  I used only the collection kit and some enamel dots for these layouts and it was so easy. I had a precut background all ready for me and I brought this to a crop a few weeks ago. It was easy to pack - just a kit, some cardstock and adhesive. A great way to create at a crop or a friends house!

This is my first layout - called "Smile Big"

As you can see I didn't use a large title for this page, I felt that the 3x4 element card was enough with a sticker on my photo. A nice easy title is something I like on my pages. I really don't like stressing about that too much.

The colors are so nice in this collection - the navy is something i really enjoy with some pinks mixed it. It's really a beautiful kit. I used a Kraft cardstock for my background - something i used less of lately but really love the look. I layered some pieces of patterned paper and of course I used some dimensional adhesive on my die cut stickers. That's a given ;)

A few clusters around the elements card and photo just bring the entire page together.  Here is a sketch I created just for you based on this layout.

My second layout is called - Hello Lovely

Yes that's me being silly of course. It was taken at an event last March and I was playing with the photo booth props. It's so much fun to dress up and be crazy for a few minutes.  This is my version of Hello Lovely. Sometimes you've got to ' let it go! '

I used a digital die cut for the background - created by Paige Evans. It was so easy to create this page even if it looks complicating. I created this page in a few hours and really loved piecing papers and doing an assortment of flowers on this page.

I created journal strips and then added a bit of watercolor on top so you would see the journaling and it wouldn't be hidden under the white cardstock and variety of papers. It could have been colored a blue or peach, but the pink adds more color to my page ;)

You can see the cluster of stickers and also some of the paint splats I created.

I hope you enjoyed my reveal today and of course we can't wait to see what you create with this collection! Don't forget to tag us on instagram using #SimpleStories and you can come follow me as well at instagram.com/KristineDavidson

Hello Friends! It's Kristine Davidson here today and I'm sharing 2 layouts with you using the new collection called CABIN FEVER.  When you look at this collection you might think -" wow, i haven't been camping in years!" but you shouldn't skip this collection all together! I created a layout that wasn't even close to camping - just read my post and you'll see!

My first layout is called Cabin Fever. I had to borrow a friend's photo to complete a layout using this collection because honestly I haven't been camping in years! I really liked the colors and also that little red truck was just calling my name! So I created a layout based on a gorgeous cabin in the woods. A place where people come to relax, enjoy some quiet time and make some lasting memories.

I created some layers with several papers from this collection and used a minimal amount of die cuts on this one. I found with the picture of the cabin, i didn't much to enhance it or I didn't want my page to be too busy.

I cut out the compass from a 4x6 journal card in the kit and then of course that little red truck is sooo cute isn't it !? This collection could be used for a fall layout or spring / summer layout at the cabin or camping as well.

It's an easy page that you can replicate with no issues, just find that perfect picture!

My second layout is a fun one - still using the same Cabin Fever collection but I created a page that wasn't about camping or the cabin at all.

This layout is called " You Make Me Happy".  I apologize that the lighting isn't great on my layout - we haven't seen sun in ages here on the east coast.

I started this page by using a cut file in the Silhouette store from the Simple Stories - the GEO Background #194848. I love die cut backgrounds and of course this one was perfect for me. I created my background and then added pieces of papers - to give it more detail I did some sewing all along those lines - it looks good and I don't need to fuss over glue dots or make sure it stays put ;)

Once I finished with the piecing of the background I started decorating. I wanted to have something that wasn't camping related so I simply used the flowers from the sticker sheet, Bits & Pieces and also chipboard.  I clustered on the left hand side of the photo since my papers on the right were a bit busy as is - I didn't want to overwhelm the page too much.

I kept some simple colors such as the beige and also the mint green. I also kept a corner with the wood grain paper so I could decorate a bit more on the right bottom corner.

My title was created using some alpha stickers from the SN@P! basics collection.  I also had a cut file for happy from Kerri Bradford. I added some pop dots behind the word happy to give it some height and then added some enamel dots ;)

As you can see this collection isn't just for those who love camping ;)

I hope you enjoyed my reveal today and of course we can't wait to see what you create with this collection! Don't forget to tag us on instagram using #SimpleStories and you can come follow me as well at instagram.com/KristineDavidson

Hello Friends! It’s Kristine Davidson with you today and I am excited to share a few layouts and cards with you today. It’s April already and that means it’s time to start scrapbooking those Spring photos and create those special mother’s day layouts.

This month I decided to play with the NEW Simple Set called MOM.  I had a few layouts in mind but the photos of my mom and I are very few. I need to work on that this summer and get more pictures of her, even if she doesn’t like them! So I dug out some photos that were not necessarily MOM photos but they mean just as much to me.

This first layout is called Beautiful – It is a picture of my niece who is really growing up way too fast – She took this picture as a selfie and I was in awe of how beautiful she is.

I created a bit of a simple layout – using a white piece of cardstock and adding patterned paper for a ½ border around the cardstock. This just makes my layout feel like it’s framed.  I then added some strips of paper and did minimal sewing on this page.

Adding a bit of embellishments to the top left was easy to do with this cute banner sticker and well since I love pop dots and twine that was a given to be included.

I cut out the “ beautiful “ from a 4x6” journal card in the paper in the collection and added that as my title. Nothing fancy but it adds to my layout.

It’s quite easy to replicate and of course you can add some journaling and your page is finished. Nothing too fancy and easy for you to create in less than 1 hour!

My second layout is called Love You – It’s a silly and sweet picture of my kitty as she attempts to get comfortable in one of her kitty trees! My goodness she used to fit in that space so nicely but now she’s getting a bit too grown up for that little space ;) it’s funny to watch her try and get comfy!

I used a piece of cardstock that was cut with my silhouette. I created cut outs for a piece of paper measuring about 2.5” x 2.5” and fit nicely as a grid background. A great way to use scraps too! I then printed her photo in a 4x4” format to fit nicely on this grid layout.

I used minimal amounts of stickers or embellishments. I did add some enamel dots, twine, and did a few layers with the stickers using popdots.

My title is found on the LOVE YOU sticker, and I added journaling at the bottom right.

Well I had some left over papers and decided to create a few cards – these are themed for Mother’s Day and YOU can make these too!   I used left over stickers from the Simple Set pack and some twine – nothing else!

I hope you feel inspired to create with this beautiful collection and please share your layouts or cards with us on instagram @SimpleStories_ and you can tag me as well @KristineDavidson
