Kristine Davidson's Blog Posts

Hello Friends, its Kristine Davidson and I’ll be sharing a layout and 2 cards with you today.  This month I decided to create with the newly released Faith Collection.  I was inspired by the colors in this collection and the great patterns using the 6x8” paper pad. I must say this is the perfect size for creating layouts that use layering, and where you want to use a bit more than a 6x6” size. I think this new format is going to be a huge hit with those who create layouts, planner inserts, cards and so much more!

Let’s get started shall we? First I would like to share my layout with you.
It’s called Kitty Love –

So as you can see, this collection isn’t just for FAITH scrapbooking! It can be used for other themes as well. I wanted to use this photo of myself and my little furry love  Miss Willie. The background matches that green perfectly doesn’t it !! LOL. That wasn’t planned!

I first started my page by using a white background, but once I got my page started I needed a bit more so I created a background using a cut file from Paper Issues.  I wanted to use tons of gorgeous papers on this page and so I layered and layered creating dimension and lots of color.

It’s no secret I love diecuts and popdots! I added those on the corner of my photo in a cluster with several layers and adding twine and staple for texture.

I created my Kitty title using 2 different patterned papers and cut out kitty twice with one larger than the other so it would create a border and make it stand out a bit more.

Don’t be afraid to add several papers or even pieces of paper to create layers. Especially if they are from the same collection and of course just because the collection is called Faith doesn’t mean it can’t be used for something else !

My second showcase is a card set I created with the same collection.  These cards can be used for encouragement or thinking about you themes. By just adding a diecut or a sticker you can change the theme of your card.

OK! I can’t leave you without sharing one of my latest layouts using the Love & Adore Collection.

I pieced some left over papers under this heart diecut and layered so many great Bits & Pieces from the same collection. I love this layout and It was so fun to create. Do you have any leftovers from this collection? How about using them with a cut file to get rid of some of those small pieces? Do It ! ;)

Layers and layers Oh MY!

Hello Friends!

It's Kristine Davidson here with you today and I am so excited to be sharing some new pages with you that were created for the January CHA/Creativation Show! I used the new funny, fabulous & fun collection called - EMOJI LOVE. Oh my goodness, when I first saw the cute emojis on a sheet of paper I was like WHAT?!!! Too much fun.
I created 2 layouts with this collection and I can't wait to create more fun projects with it... mini album, birthday card you can do so much with this fun collection.

My first layout is of my niece. She has now reached the title of "teenager" and my photos of her are rare.  I sent her a message saying - hey I got this cool collection I have to play with, can you send me a cool pic?  Well safe to say I didn't get one.  So as an aunt and scrapbooker I searched her Instagram feed until I found a cute pic and then I just added a little fun to it with some filters. Those glasses were perfect for me to play with this Emoji Love Collection.

I first started my page with a black cardstock. I am loving the black lately and this collection has so many great papers that go so well with black. Something different than the usual go to white cardstock.

I added strips of papers, and I layered some washi tape on top of those papers too!  I had some fun emoji brads that I wanted to add so I placed them on top of the strip of paper that has tons of emojis.

I layered some chipboard pieces, some journal strips, and instead of adding another photo or journal card I used a journal card.
I used some stickers, and called this layout OMG Seriously?! Which is something my niece says often when I ask her stupid questions! ;)

How fun right ? Those green glasses? Perfect!

My second layout is a story. This layout was created using tons of great stickers, bits & pieces, enamel dots and more!   I didn't use any photos on this layout - I just wanted to create a little emoji story!

The Story:

Guy: Hey Smile!

Girlfriend: Hey Love, Come to a Party with my BFF?
Guy: Yes I would love to party with you.
Girlfriend:YAY! I'm getting ready doing my nails and getting my dancing shoes! Seriously!
Guy: OMG, I have my shades and Vans and good to go!
Girlfriend: ROFL
Guy: Having a snack; fries and pizza. Oops gotta poop! LOL
Girlfriend: OMG Poop? LOL
Guy: That Stinks .. WOW
Girlfriend: LOL Awkward!
Guy: Kisses!

That's my story! I had a blast using this collection. I am sure with today's teens you can come up with your own page using some emojis, screen shots of text messages or facebook chats. Have fun with it! Please share your pages on Instagram with #SimpleStories and you can tag me as well #KristineDavidson, I would love to see your EMOJI LOVE pages!

Hello Friends its Kristine Davidson with you today.  I will be sharing 2 layouts with you using the gorgeous winter collection called “Winter Wonderland”. It has beautiful soft colors and great images for those winter pages.

My first layout is called Winter Chill -

I used a pattern paper for my background on this layout and then started layering with other pattern papers and I wanted to highlight some of those papers. In order for me to do that I used the Oh What Fun paper to create a brown border around those papers. That created a bit of a definition for me, which I like.

Layering with dimensional adhesive is nothing new on my pages and this layout was no exception. Creating a cluster of embellishments on the right bottom corner of my pictures was a great place to add a snowman, some skates, and a few word strips.

I love flowers and even if this is a winter layout I find that these blue/yellow/white flowers add such a beautiful touch to my page.  I added those on the left side of my page but didn’t over do it.

I love the trees and the deer stickers. I wanted to add those to both of my pages so I did. They are similar, but I am ok with that ;)

My second layout is called SNOW

The girls were outside taking photos and it was just the perfect day. It was a mild winter’s day and the birch trees in the background were a perfect match to this paper collection. It wasn’t snowing that day but the snow in the background certainly shows that it was a winter’s Day.

This layout is really similar to the first one. I added more brown paper on the back of my pattern papers for dimension, some snowmen which is super cute by the way, and also the deer and tree on the right hand side.

You could probably do something similar to this and create a 2 page layout for yourself. Try adding a dark color around your light pattern papers and see if you like that ;)
