Linsey Rickett's Blog Posts

Hello friends! Linsey here sharing a new altered project with an All American theme on this fine Independence Day! I'm definitely an all-American girl at heart, so it's no surprise how much I enjoyed creating this festive shadowbox to add to my Americana home décor! Come along and celebrate with us!

It is a breeze getting your patriotic groove on with the All American Simple Set! The 12x12 patterned papers are perfectly festive and coordinate great with the 6x12 cardstock sticker sheet. For the 3 small squares, the confetti side of Freedom was used in the background and 3 of the square stickers were placed in the center of each

A few extra sticker elements were popped up on dimensional adhesive dots and added to the small squares for extra interest. The stars and stripes balloon trio and bottle of cola are so much fun and scream USA! The "Independence Day" and "let freedom ring" sticker banners were super easy to add and can be used in so many other cool ways. I love how this collection mixes a fresh, modern feel with an Americana twist so beautifully. Super stylish and just what I was hoping for!

For the larger top portion, the 4x6" American flag from Journaling Card Elements was used in the background. Three firecracker stickers were placed on dimensional adhesive, each with a shiny enamel dot added to the base where it goes POP!

Of course, there has to be a focal point celebrating the day itself, so the July 4th stickers were added with a bit of dimension to honor our independence and all that it means.

And that's my All American Shadowbox! Thanks so much for visiting today and allowing me to share my project with you! I hope you've found a bit of inspiration in it. For those of you who are celebrating today, Happy 4th of July! Happy crafting, one and all!

Supplies

Hello there! Linsey here today sharing my latest altered project, made with the beautiful and timeless Simple Stories Faith collection. A 3D wooden wishing well was the perfect piece for my plan. I designed it with a certain scripture in mind: John 4. This is when Jesus comes to rest at Jacob's well and the Samaritan woman arrives to get water. Jesus explains to the woman that all who drink the well water will be thirsty again; but whomever drinks the water that He gives them will never thirst again. For Jesus is the true, living water and indeed, the water He gives us will become in us a spring of water welling up to eternal life. And this is how my well of faith came to be.

As you can see, this is no usual well. This is a very special well indeed! It's brimming with all good things so that anyone who comes to it, thirsty, might bear witness to the true, living water of Christ. There are countless elements in the Faith collection to embellish with. So much so, I found it difficult to stop adding darling goodies to my project. Come and be inspired by the joy and love within!

The well is covered with some of the patterned papers from the Faith collection, giving it a nice feel of floral mixed with woodgrain and lots of colorful pretties. Grace washi tape was perfect to use for covering all the edges, so painting them white first wasn't even necessary. I love all the cute accents of this collection. From the balloons, potted plants and world globe chipboard to the faith bible and Winston wearing his I heart Jesus sweater decorative clips....there is so much to adore!

The "shine" decorative brad is a perfect accent for the theme. As God's children, we have a certain light in us and He wants us to shine brightly. He is the light of the world and we are His city on a hill--so let your light shine!

I love the quality of Simple Stories products. The heavy duty cardstock stickers stood up to all my abuse when manipulating them into the scene. Like the lights and lantern hung from the inside ceiling.

Enamel dots are so cool. Here, they were transformed into a colorful string of fun also hung from the inside of the well.

And a few more enamel dots on the tiny blooms of the chipboard add just the right amount of dimension.

The roof's trim was designed using the 12 inch heart border sticker cut down to fit the length of each side. A bit of delicate white crochet lace underneath the border and along the top of the roof border adds a sweet touch.

And that's my well of faith altered project. I hope you enjoyed it. I certainly took great pleasure in creating it! And I hope you've been inspired by the Faith collection today. Thank you so much for visiting! Happy crafting!

Supplies

Hello! Linsey here today and I'm so excited to share my first Simple Stories blog post and project with you! I love to alter almost anything and have been wanting to transform my ordinary cork board into something fabulous! I found the Domestic Bliss collection to be just right for my memo board makeover! The fresh, beautiful patterns mixed with the fun and perfectly quirky elements make for a most delightful experience in creating!

The main section is for memos, notes and messages and the smaller section is for my weekly dinner menu at a glance. A piece of 12x12 patterned paper was used for the background on the memo section.

For the meal list/menu, the daily chart is one of the 4x6 Vertical Elements and directly above that is one of the 4x4 Elements detailed with enamel dots and clear and regular stickers.

The Epoxy Metal Clips were securely adhered to regular push pins to create an area where notes can be easily slid onto the clips and displayed.

A variety of favorite Decorative Brads, Bits & Pieces and Combo Stickers were done in the same fashion as the clips, transforming them into adorable and fun decorative push pins!

Some blank tabs and bullet elements from the 4x6 Stickers were cut out individually and a small window pouch was created to hold them. Tip: layer a piece of clear plastic over and equal sized piece of patterned paper/cardstock and fold washi tape around the edges to create a visually pleasing window pouch.

The sides of the memo board were covered with Home Sweet Home Washi Tape. It was super easy to do and really adds to the customized look and feel of the memo board.

Finally, a couple of the large floral decorative brads were added to the frame as well as a few small chipboard flowers on the frame corners, topped with an enamel dot in each flower center.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and sticking with me throughout my post! I hope you enjoyed my altered memo board and might be inspired to create something with the wonderful Domestic Bliss collection too! Happy crafting!
