Slice of Summer By Tya Smith!

Slice of Summer By Tya Smith!

Hi there everyone! It’s Tya Smith up on the blog today! I’m so happy to be here with you to share my latest batch of handmade cards. This time around I am using the amazing “Summer Farmhouse” collection. As a lover of all things “farmhouse” themed- this collection really spoke to me! I loved the wood grain, denim, gingham and floral patterns as well all of the down home, cozy icons! Let me show you the eight cards I created!

Card #1 was made with the help of a couple of the cards from the Summer Farmhouse Snap Cards. I really love using these when I am making cards. The 4x6 and 3x4 cards make it really easy to use them on my card bases which are 4 ¼ x 5 ½ inches. Here the yellow hexagon and denim papers are 3x4 Snap Cards that I simply layered on top of each other. These cards aren’t just for pocket pages friends!

Card #2 uses some of my absolute favorite icons in the collection. I love all things lemon! I especially love pink paper with the lemons and florals on the bottom portion of the card. Paired with the cute yellow gingham and the wood grain papers, this card just screams “Lemonade Stand”. Just like the Chipboard sticker lemonade stand I used in the center of the card.

Card #3 came about because I fell in love with that super cute Chipboard wagon! The yellow polka dot paper makes it bright and sunny! The addition of the tag tied with some jute and enamel dots finish of this fun card.

Card #4 is up next. Nothing says summer like watermelon right?  This cute 3x4 card from the Snap cards makes for a great sentiment. The watermelon banner is from the Chipboard and adds some great dimension.

Card #5 is a fun one!  I thought the ice cream cart from the Bits and Pieces Ephemera was so fun and wanted to use it on my card. The colors on the ice cream pattern paper from the 6x8 paper pad were the perfect background for this card. See that little “sweet “red sticker on the ice cream cone sticker? It is from the 4x6 sticker book. I always turn to this sticker book when I am looking for a smaller sentiment. This was the perfect size and fit perfectly just above the “summertime” die cut from the Bits and Pieces Ephemera.

Card #6 – what a fun card this was to make! When I start designing my cards – I like to group certain icons together from the Bits and Pieces Ephemera, stickers from the Combo Sticker Sheet and the 4x6 Sticker book. I created this fun little BBQ scene using all these embellishments and love how it turned out! I mounted everything on some ovals that I die cut and then layered on some of the pattern papers.

Here we are with card #7 - Ok - this card was made totally around the cute 3x4 Snap Card that says “If You’re Not Barefoot – You’re Overdressed”! As one who pretty much lives barefoot in the summer- I had to make a card using it! The cute swimsuits and sunglasses are stickers and die cuts from the Bits and Pieces Ephemera.

Lastly, Card #8 is made with a color combo I adore. I love navy, red and pink together, so I reached for papers and stickers that matched that color scheme. Isn’t that pink dress with the cherries on it sooo cute? I wish it was real!!! Let’s make Simple Stories clothing happen lol! The “I Love Summer” banner is a sticker and makes for a great sentiment to match the color scheme.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today and taking a little peek at my cards. I hope I have inspired you to create some cards of your own using this sweet collection. Happy Crafting!
