January 2018 Blog Posts

Hello everyone!  Dorymar here today sharing a beautiful mini album I designed with the lovely ROMANCE COLLECTION.  When I saw this collection, I fell in love instantly with the pastels colors, elements, and designs. St. Valentine’s day is just around the corner and this project is a unique way to celebrate love and friendship: the perfect gift for your loved ones!

The mini album consists of 6 pages filled with lots of interactive elements and details.

You can see how each paper coordinates perfectly with each other and how interactive and fun the pages are. Flowers, arrows, hearts, and pastels colors are so lovely!

I couldn’t resist adding all the elements of the Bits and Pieces pack because they are too perfect for the occasion. I used twine to give texture and to give some dimension to the arrows and tags!

Here is a very fun and interactive page full of pockets, tags, 3 x 4 cards and a huge beautiful element and phrases.

I love how this project turned out! I can’t wait to add pictures! I hope this project inspires you to create with the wonderful Romance Collection from Simple Stories.  Come and visit me on my Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/dorymar_pl/

Happy scrapping!

Hello again creatives! Leah here with you on the blog today. It's a new year, which means it's time for a new planner setup that better serves my goals for 2018. I am using this planner, along with a traveler's notebook, as my two main planning and memory-keeping systems. I began my new setup in my A5 cream blossom Carpe Diem planner by giving the front of my planner a fresh makeover using the new “I Am” collection. This collection is full of butterflies and blossoming florals, which symbolize new life, new beginnings, and growth. All of the motivational and confidence-boosting sentiments in this collection are great for reminding you to keep faith in yourself as you take on your goals for the new year.

This year, I have a goal to engage in more art therapy. I loved mixed media so much and I haven't been taking out my art supplies often enough. My creative soul has really been feeling the weight of not prioritizing that creative time. For this reason, I created a mixed media dashboard for the front of my planner that is full of color! Every time I see this dashboard, I am reminded of how much fun I had creating it, which motivates me to get my supplies out. I used lots of texture on this dashboard with watercolor, glitter, chipboard stickers, doilies and lots of layering. I love stapling on butterflies so that the wings lift off the page. This phrases I used here are some of my favorites from the collection that I find most inspiring.

In my pockets, I also added lots of texture with similar elements as listed above, but I even got my sewing machine out. I love how sewing on paper can add such a handmade, personalized touch to embellishments.

I always love incorporating photos into my planner pockets, so I printed these tiny photos out and made them into a simple banner. This is one of my favorite pocket pieces I made and it was so easy to create! I used my sewing machine to sew through the banner, but I used to hand stitch elements like this before I finally figured out how to thread my machine.

Hello! It's Lisa Dickinson here today sharing a heart-filled layout with you!

PurrfectLove1_W

I've used the Life is Purrfect Simple Set on this page, but the design would work perfectly for a Valentine's themed layout - or any layout about LOVE!

PurrfectLove2_W

Use baker's twine to highlight a title and make it stand out from other die cuts.

PurrfectLove4_W

Buttons are perfect for filling extra white space in the design.

PurrfectLove3_W

Layer multiple stickers for a custom page accent - this one helps balance on the pattern & color on the left side of the page!

PurrfectLove5_W

Don't be afraid to use lots of pattern on a page. The Simple Set papers are meant to be mixed and matched to your heart's delight!

Hello Friends!

It is Kristine Davidson here and I'm sharing a simple layout with you today. It was created using the gorgeous collection called ROMANCE

The picture is from my cousin who recently got married and was nice to let me use her pictures for my scrapbooking pleasure!

I didn't go crazy on this layout with tons of paper or even layers for that matter. I saw this brick background and immediately fell in love with it. It's perfect!

Here is my layout called You Make My Heart Happy.

In order to get a few details on my page I used the outline of the heart as a focus and sewed around the edge to give the heart some definition. I added some white ink splats as well as green and red. The paint just adds a bit of texture to my page as well. I didn't use any other paper but I did add some bits & pieces and used the sticker as my title again.

You must see a trend in my page titles!? I usually don't overthink my titles. If a sticker or diecut jumps at me then that's what I use! No Stress!

I really love this page and could see this in a frame ;)

Thanks for visiting us at Simple Stories today, if you enjoyed my layout please come find me on instagram @KristineDavidson

Have a great day!

Hello Simple Stories Friends and Fans!

We are in the middle of Winter here in Canada, so what better way to warm up those cold days, than a bit of inspiration using the super fun "SUB ZERO" collection.

The designs, and colors in the papers in the "SUB ZERO" collection are so bright and fun, so what better way to showcase them all, than to create a large title using a few cut files from the Cut Shoppe-.   And to bring more winter to the page, a bit of extra winter (as in Vicki Boutin's Iridescent glaze and a snowflake stencil) on the background.

To bring a bit more fun, and playfulness to the page.  Small clusters of ephemera and stickers were added around the title, and in clusters around the picture of my nephew while playing in the snow!.  Gotta love all those fun elements in the SUB ZERO collection!

I hope this inspires you to check the "SUBZERO" collection.   The fun and colorful designs will bring a bit of happiness to those cold Winter days.

That is all for me!

XOXO

Hello! It's Jennifer on the blog today to share a layout I created with the beautiful Romance collection! I love the soft colors mixed in with the blacks and woodgrains! This line is geared towards Valentines Day but it can be used for love or any special occasion! For my layout, "Adore", I  scrapped a sweet photo of my niece and brother-in-law getting ready to attend a Father-Daughter Dance this year!

The Bits and Pieces pack is full of fun shapes such as colored hearts, floral clusters, and journaling spots! You can also spy the floral Forever Washi Tape which coordinates with the collection.  And how cute are the little sentiment stickers found on the 4x6 Sticker Sheets?

I  used the "XOXO" Simple Stories cut file from the Silhouette store for my background. I  then used different patterns from the collection to back my cardstock.  You can also see the gorgeous banner found on the Combo Sticker Sheet that I  adhered across the bottom of my photo. I  used pop dots to give the banner dimension.

Thank you for stopping by today! You can check out this collection in its entirety by going to the Products page! And while you are there you can see all of the fabulous NEW releases from Simple Stories!  Have a great day!
