Where the Sun Shines

Although we appreciate the weather all year round here in Southern California, I truly enjoy Summer since the kids are off school and we have more family time.

I love all the vibrant and bright colors in "Hello Summer" Collection. Working with this collection got me really excited like a kid in a candy store. I truly didn't know where to start. I had so many ideas running in my head.
Summer has the happiest and most cheerful colors and it makes me want to scream for ice cream. I fussy cut the flamingo from one of the papers from the 6x8 paper pad. To create my dashboard, I used the "Life is Good" double sided paper from the 6x8 paper pad for the background. I then just added a couple of chipboard pieces. I used the "Catching Rays" paper to make some fun hole reinforcers.

Who doesn't love to decorate their planner pockets? Whenever I look at this side of my planner, it set up the mood for the theme of my current set up. This scream "I Love Summer"
I also fussy cut the flamingo from the 3x4 journaling cards.
I couldn't help but create another dashboard that I can also use as a divider. My daughter's dress in this picture was just too perfect for this collection. I plan on making more dividers for my summer set up.
Isn't my daughter just adorable with her sunglasses?
I love all the layering I created on this page. I made a couple of tags with eyelets so I can add the twines. I frayed the border of the picture to add texture. I also inked the edges to give it a finished look.
July Monthly Layout. As I mentioned in my previous blog, I love and enjoy creating monthly layouts.
I used the smaller numbers from the number sticker tablets for my monthly layout. Since I am using the Personal size planner, I also try to use smaller size stickers. Large stickers may overpower the page and may take away the focus of the whole layout.
I also started setting up my Traveler's Notebook. I created a simple but super cute cover for my insert. I used the "Who's ready for Summer" paper. The design of this paper is gorgeous enough by itself without having to do any more decorating. It was very fast and easy.
I hope you enjoy viewing my bright and cheerful planner set up. I can't wait to document my family's fun adventures this summer. I do have all year long to add more memories in my journal since we have an Endless Summer here in Southern California.

Jeanne here today sharing four cards made with the new Simple Stories Bloom Collection!   This collection is a mix of soft florals and bold black and white stripes and dots!

This is a complete collection with Bits and Pieces die cuts, 6x12" Chipboard Sticker Sheet, Journaling Elements and even decorative Washi Tape!  You can see the entire collection here.

The chipboard elements make wonderful embellishments!  The chipboard is thick and add lots of dimension to your projects.  The typewriter and florals on this card are all chipboard.

A 3x4 journaling card (included in the collection kit) is perfect for making images the center of attention.  The Combo sticker includes sentiment strips borders and tabs!

This sentiment was created by layering  a "bits and pieces" die cut sentiment over a 3x4" elements journaling card.  There is adhesive foam tape between the layers to add dimension.

You're going to love how each and every piece in this collection is coordinated to work together and the beautiful projects you'll be able to make!

Hello everyone, welcome back to the Simple Stories blog! Leah here and I've got my TN all set up for summer with the Hello Summer collection and I'm excited to share it with you today. I am loving the bright colors and super fun patterns and icons in this line – they were perfect for brightening up my TN setup for July.

It's been awhile since I went a little heavier on my TN pocket décor. Maybe it's the season, but I was feeling the urge to make my setup more fun this month, even if it means my front pockets will be less functional for now. Although, all the extra die cuts and decorative pieces will be great to pull and use when decorating my lists and planner layouts throughout the month.

The patterned papers from the Hello Summer line truly give me all the good summer vibes! I cut some of my favorites down to the size of the TN inserts and wrapped them around the existing notebook covers so that all the inserts would coordinate together. For the front cover, I added some extra layers and die cuts for more interest and dimension. How cute is the little chipboard flamingo sticker?

I love how this TN pocket bookmark/sticker holder project turned out! The base of it is the 12x12 "Just Chillin" patterned paper. I took the similar flamingo patterned paper from the 6x8 paper pad and cut out a piece to create the pocket. Cutting around the head and necks of the flamingo gave the pocket a fun extra touch. I fussy cut all the flowers from the 12x12 "Paradise Found" paper and stapled one of the pieces at the top of this pocket for decoration, but also to hold the stickers more securely in the pocket so they will stay in place if my TN is turned upside down.

Overall, I am loving everything about the Hello Summer collection and can't wait to keep using it in my TN all summer long. Have you picked up this collection yet? The Simple Stories blog and social media channels are loaded with inspiration using this line right now, if you haven't seen enough to make you love it already! Until next time creatives, happy crafting!

Hello friends! Jennifer on the blog today to share a page I  created using the Hometown USA Simple Set!  The 4th of July is a big holiday for our family as we enjoy yearly traditions such as watching local fireworks and cooking out with neighbors!  Hometown USA includes classy prints with the patriotic red, white, and blue which was perfect for this favorite photo of my daughter enjoying a sparkler before fireworks!

I  wanted to incorporate stars for my background so I  utilized the "Star"  Cut File from Simple Stories (file #170092) found in the Silhouette shop. I  opened the replicate screen to duplicate the shape as well as alter size as I  see fit.  Once my background was cut, I  backed each open space with patterned paper from the collection.

Next, I  knew I  wanted to use some hand stitching as well as my usual sewing machine.  With a paper piercer and ruler, I  placed holes around my star. Then, using embroidery floss in dark blue, I  stitch around selected star shapes.

Here is the end result of the stitching!  Some of the stars I  decided to just punch holes at each point so there would be less stitching (which means smoother transitions). One my bottom star, I  used a pop dot to adhere the heart flag sticker to accent.

Simple Stories has a large selection of cut files to choose from including this "Sparkle" I used for my title (file #83862)! I  then accented with two of the cute sentiment stickers found on the Hometown USA 6x12 Sticker Sheet. Of course, I had to use the sparkler as well!

I'm so loving this banner!  I   adhered it with pop dots across my page to help break up the sections as well as to accent my journaling.

Thank you for stopping by today! Check out the entire Hometown USA collection by visiting the Products page! While you are there, see what is coming up for Simple Stories!  Have a great day!

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today with a new super sweet and simple layout featuring the new Simple Stories BLOOM collection.  This collection is rich in all positive vibes, a beautiful color palette, and my favorite: florals!!

The b-side of the Sn@p Basics Walnut/Cream dot paper was used as the mat for this layout.   Then two large strips of the Happy Times and Today's the Day from the Bloom collection were stitched to the mat.

To bring out a bit of the teal color in the collection, a little bit of mixed media was added to the background, just enough to peek under the picture.  The picture was then layered with papers from the collection and glued to the page.

All the florals in the papers of this collection, as well as in the stickers and ephemera pieces made it so easy to create clusters around the picture.   A bit of fussy cutting the Happy Times paper florals was all that this page needed to shine.

But the Bloom collection also is packed with beautiful quotes and icons (ephemera and stickers) that can easily be added to your projects, in this case, these helped convey the sentiment of the page.

To finish this page, the chipboard sticker ('BLOOM') was used.  The choice to flip the title was made so that it balance the line that the stitched papers form behind the picture.

I think my line, "love how this turned out", would fit this properly, but honestly this was so easy to put together and the results are truly beautiful.   The BLOOM collection is perfect to document those enlighting life moments. I cannot wait to see what you create with it!

Hi everyone! Wedding season is upon us and I can't help but be inspired to create with all of the beautiful wedding, flower and bridal photos out there! Simple Stories got in on the action too, with the gorgeous 'Always and Forever' paper collection!

This soft and romantic collection features a classic black and cream color scheme in lovely stripes, dots and floral patterns. The best part about it though are the gold foil accents that add sparkle and shine to any project!

To really show off this stunning collection of patterns and embellishments, I made this dimensional album with five stacked pages. I covered each of the pages with a different pattern of the fabulous paper and then made them even prettier with the charming stickers, chipboard and Bits & Pieces of the collection.

I created this album to highlight pictures and mementos of the bride and groom on their big day but this collection is super versatile. It has such a variety of beautiful images and sweet sentiments that it could be used for engagements, bridal showers and more!

Woooohooo!! It’s my favourite time of year! I absolutely love everything about summer, I am certainly my happiest when the sun shines, and this Hello Summer collection by Simple Stories definitely captures all the aspects of Summer that make me smile!

There’s flamingos, cacti, flowers, fruit, sunglasses and super bright cheerful colours!!

I’ve stuffed my pockets full of papers from the collection, a few doilies, paperclips and made a ‘flamingo’ tag!

In the large side pocket I’ve popped a few papers to tie it all in and slid a flag paperclip which I made which holds them together.

For the dashboard I’ve used the rainbow stripe and then layered one of the 3x4 elements from the 12x12 cut apart sheets over some of the dotty paper and another doily, a flower & sunshine from the chipboard pieces and I’ve cut out a flamingo from one of the sheets from the 6x8 paper pad.

I used the 12x12 collection kit to make some dividers, which now with the divider templates and the CarpeDiem punch is so quick and easy. I then used the ‘Tabs Sticker Tablet’ and ‘Clear Tab Stickers’ ...perfect!!

I couldn’t help but play around with this gorgeous collection, you’ll see here I’ve decorated using an assortment of papers I’ve cut up to make a sunshine and of course I couldn’t resist adding another flamingo!!

I wanted to highlight the zipper pouches by CarpeDiem which fit inside A5 planners, I don’t think they get enough recognition! For me, they are utterly awesome!! Every planner I have, you’ll find includes one! That’s because they are perfect in so many ways, you can add receipts, bits & pieces (like I have here), stickers, journaling cards, photos...I could go on and on! Basically, if you haven’t got one...then you need one!...or two, three, or more!

I hope you’ve enjoyed another little look through my planner, which I forgot to mention is the new A5 Mint Blossom, using the fabulous Hello Summer collection. See you again next month, hopefully I’ll have something to show you which will be full of unicorns!! ;)
