Marcia Dehn-Nix's Blog Posts

Howdy!  Layle here with you today.  We have a fun week planned for you - a Simple Stories & JustNick Digital Cut Files Team Up!

Both design teams have swapped 'products' and will be sharing on our blogs all week long for some great inspiration!  Let me tell you, if you fancy digital cut files then you're in for a treat!  Nicole Nowosad, creator of JustNick, is super talented and has a fabulous library of cut files available!

Today creative team member Marcia Dehn-Nix joins us with two Posh layouts -

Hello Simple Stories friends! Marcia here. This week we are teaming up with JustNick Studios who sells awesome digital cut files you can download to use with your electronic die cut machine. Today I am using some of those digital cut files with the gorgeous Posh collection. Posh is so pretty with it's gold accents. It definitely has a classy feminine feel to it ... Posh is the perfect description for it. I decided to scrap some girly layouts with it. This first one is of my daughter at her Veterinary School white coat ceremony.

I used the Broken Heart digital cut file from JustNick Studios for the big heart behind my photo and pieced different solid colored pattern papers behind it. To create some texture, I stitched around my heart with a gold metallic thread.

The Broken Heart cut file is similar to the hearts you will find in the Posh collection. Like this sticker heart I place near my journaling.

There is a lot of gold mixed in the bits & pieces die cuts, stickers and chipboard and it really gives this collection a classy look. I used some of the clear stickers over my photo. "You Can Do Anything" was perfect! I couldn't resist using these adorable blue birds in my embellishment clusters along with some of the flower bits and pieces die cuts.

I love these tabs from the Bits & Pieces die cuts and they work so well with the phrase stickers.

The chipboard "dream" makes a dreamy title indeed and I combined it with some of the alpha stickers.

My second layout is a two-pager. I recently went to a paint night with my daughter, sister, and nieces. My first paint night ever! We had so much fun. I wanted to use lots of my photos to document the night. Who knew I could paint?

I used the JustNick Studios Infinity Hearts digital cut file to create those circles with hearts and the scallops under the photos are another digital cut file; Simple Scallop Strips.

To create my title, I used the JustNick Studios Simple  Set Alphabet and once again combined it with the alpha stickers from the Posh collection. I layered some heart chipboard stickers and some flower die cuts to help draw attention to the title.

Yes, I used more of those adorable blue birds here too... who could resist!

The Posh collection has some beautiful washi tape and I used a couple different ones on my layout. This one might be my favorite washi tape...

Hello Simple Stories friends! Marcia here today with some fabulous Reset Girl scrapbook layout inspiration. I really love the vintage elements. With the pinks and greens it's definitely perfect for scrapping your favorite girls. This collection really suits my daughter at the moment. She is in the process of resetting her life having just filed for divorce. This was not an easy decision for her to make and I have watched her struggle as she tries to find herself again. Slowly her confidence is coming back. She almost never takes selfies of herself but lately that has also been changing. I couldn't resist scrapping this one .... Back On The Market ...

I created my background by combining several different pattern papers. What is a girl to do when she can't make up her mind with so many beautiful pattern papers to choose from, I used a circle leaf frame cut file from JustNick Studios to frame my photo and then clustered embellishments all around it. Those birds are a definite favorite!

On the other side of the photo I placed a Library Pocket. These pockets are so fabulous for adding little journaling tidbits. You can also see a Reset Girl Metal Clip here. I added lots of machine stitching on this layout, some in brown and some in white.

I used the Sticker Alphas to create my title. I love that they look like typewriter keys. A little Washi Tape draws your eye to the title.

In the lower corner I layered Chipboard Stickers with some Bits and Pieces die cuts. I used the Reset Girl Roller Stamp for the "hey gorgeous" and the faux stitching.

I really love how this layout turned out.

My second layout also features this same daughter, only this photo was taken almost 10 years ago as she was having her hair done for her Senior Prom. I wanted to create a large title that once again showcased all the lovely pattern papers in the Reset Girl collection. Here is You Look Fabuous...

I created a quilted look on the background of this layout using another JustNick Studios digital cut file to create my quilt pieces and I machine stitched over the top ... lots of machine stitching! I strategically positioned patterned paper underneath in a few spots first.

The title was created using some of the Sticker Alphas, the Chipboard Sticker eyeglasses for the "oo" in Look, and by backing different pattern papers underneath the large digital die cut outline alphas. Some of the pattern papers I used come from The Reset Girl Simple Basics Kit. I could not resist using another of those fabulous birds to embellish with!

Once again a Library Pocket holds my journalling. To highlight my photo I used more Washi Tape to frame it and another Metal Clip. The Word Label Stickers work so well on the tab Bits and Pieces die cuts.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hello Simple Stories friends! Marcia back today with a look at a couple of our newest collections.

Fall is hands down my favorite season, when all the trees are in full color and my favorite pumpkin spice coffee returns. So the Simple Stories Hello Fall collection was one I could not wait to get my hands on. I am not the only one who loves Fall though... so does my dog Satchel! His favorite Fall activity is squirrel chasing. When the days get cooler, he gets to wear this sweater I knit for him and he thinks he is so handsome wearing it, lol. Here is my layout...

I used the 6x6 Hello Fall paper pad along with the 12x12 woodgrain pattern paper from the collection to piece behind this leaf cut file from JustNick Studios. The result is a vivid splash of color. This chipboard squirrel sticker was a must since Satchel loves to chase them so much.

I kept my cluster of embellishments mostly around my photo, adding a journaling spot and lots of other bits & pieces.

The alpha stickers in the Hello Fall collection are fun cursive letters and they work so well to link together.

I so love how this layout turned out!

For my second layout, I used the Simple Stories Happy Haunting Simple Set. It's perfect for scrapping your Halloween photos and works for kids of all ages. This photo is from a neighborhood Halloween party I threw a few years ago.

There are some fun stickers that I used to embellish my page; a banner, spiders, and fun phrases.

Thanks for stopping by today! These Simple Stories products will be coming to your favorite scrapbook stores soon. Watch for them!
