Marcia Dehn-Nix's Blog Posts

Marcia here today with an adorable Oh, Baby layout for you. Come on, admit it ... we all take tons of photos of babies! They grow so fast over a short period of time and we want to remember every moment. What better way to document those photos then with the Oh, Baby collection. With it's gender neutral tones it's perfect for baby boys as well as baby girls. I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of my cute little nephew...

I printed my photo in a sepia tone to coordinate with the brown tones in the papers. Because I absolutely loved every piece of pattern paper in this collection, I wanted to use as much of it as possible on this layout. I did that by cutting banner strips and arranging them along the top of my layout. Then I matted my photo with some blue pattern paper and used foam adhesive to give it some dimension. So many cute little adorable animals and other baby die cuts and stickers make embellishments choices a breeze.

At the bottom of my layout I arranged stickers, die cuts, and a fabulous chipboard title.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to check out the adorable Oh, Baby collection ...  and did you know there is also an Oh, Baby Expecting and an Oh, Baby Adoption too!

Hello Simple Stories friends! Marcia here today with another Simple Stories layout using the awesome new Hello Summer collection. Last Summer my daughter took a trip with girlfriends to Sunset Beach in Florida. She had just graduated from Veterinary Collage and wanted a little vacation before diving into her internship. This collection was perfect for scrapping those beach photos.

I went with a big title that I could back with different pattern papers. This is a great way to include lots of patterns and colors on your layout. I wanted that title to make a big statement. After a long winter there is nothing better than soaking up some glorious sunshine at the beach. The chipboard Hello layered on top makes for the perfect title "Hello Beach".

To create the illusion of water on my layout, I added some watered down blue spray mist to my background using some plastic packaging. Next to my photo, I added this fun flamingo from the 3x4 Elements paper and layered lots of fun chipboard stickers,Bits & Pieces die cuts, and phrase stickers.

I added a strip of washi tape to the top of my layout then layered the pennant banners over the top. The colorful banners at the top of my layout add balance to the colorful title at the bottom.

The Hello Summer collection is perfect for documenting more than just your beach photos. With the watermelons, pineapples, suns, clouds, and flamingos, this fun collection could be used for picnics, playground outings, or any outdoor summer fun activity. What fun memories will you be making this summer?

I am so enamored by the Simple Stories I Am collection. It is so beautiful. I love that it reminds us that we need to document our own lives, not just the lives of those we love around us. For my layout today, I am scrapping some photos of myself with my old dog Satchel. This dog adores me, I mean really adores me. He follows me everywhere and stares adoringly at me all the time! He insists on giving me puppy kisses too. Here is my layout ...

I arranged my photos in a strip and framed them with this heart digital cut file. Then I added more rose gold hearts from the chipboard stickers and the cardstock sticker sheets.

One of my favorite things about this collection is all those butterflies. I decided to create a bunch of layered butterflies in different shapes and sizes. I cut the same butterfly shapes out 3 times each time getting smaller and smaller. Then I machine stitched all those layers together. I really looks like these butterflies might just fly off my page.

I used a combination of chipboard stickers and die cut ephemera pieces to create my title "I Am Loved".

I hope I inspired you to scrap some photos of yourself. Make sure to pass your camera around so you get in some shots too. Have a great week!
