Hello Simple Stories friends!

Marcia here today with a fun Winter layout I created with the Simple Stories Freezin' Season collection. I live in Minnesota, so am all too familiar with snow ... and cold. Somedays you just need to get outside and play though or that cabin fever sets in. One of my favorite outdoor winter activities is sledding. All you need is a hill and a sled. The bigger the hill the better. I love the adrenaline rush you get as you are hurtling downhill with the wind in your face. It was so fun seeing my nephew enjoying sledding too.

I knew I wanted to create hills of snow on my layout. I used various pattern papers to achieve this and cut them in curves to resemble hills. Then I embellished my hills with an adorable snowman, a penguin, a polar bear, and a village of houses. It was fun layering the bits and pieces words "brrrr', "shiver", and "chilly" along with other fun elements.

When sledding, you start at the top of the hill ... so I wanted to arrange my photos at the top of my page. Tucked in an around my photos are another cute snowman, some snowflakes and phrase stickers, and a bits and pieces tree (because you got to watch out for those trees when sledding!).

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you get a chance to get out and play in the snow! Don't forget your camera so you can document those moments with the Freezin' Season collection.

Hello Simple Stories friends!

Marcia here today with a festive Christmas layout I created with the Simple Stories Merry & Bright Christmas collection. Does your family do a photo shoot for your annual Christmas card? I don't know about you, but I love receiving photo Christmas cards! I like to see how much kids have grown and seeing how other family members have changed. I scrapped my sister-in-law's family for todays layout. I love how her Christmas card photo turned out! I am still hoping to get some family photos done myself, but with adult kids that work odd hours, it might not happen until Christmas! Anyway, every year for Christmas my Mother-in-law asks for the same thing ... a scrapbook album full of family photos. This layout is going into my Mother-in-law's album. The Merry & Bright collection is perfect for documenting all of those holiday family photos!

Is there anyone besides me crushing on all these plaid papers? That black and white buffalo plaid is the perfect background for this poinsettia wreath cut file by Paige Taylor Evans. The wreath frames my family photo nicely.

The cut file was backed with various pattern papers from the Merry & Bright collection. I love how the reds and greens in the pattern papers coordinated so well with the colors in my photo. There was also a soft blue that worked well for the bells and an awesome plaid pattern paper that I used for the bow.

With such an ornate cut file, I kept my other embellishments to a minimum. I just wanted to add a few things around my photo like this fabulous JOY banner and the Peace Love Joy tree from the Tags and Frames pack. That cute candy cane is one of the puffy stickers ... and don't forget to add a date so you'll remember years from now what year that was. The 4x6 sticker packs have the perfect round stickers to do just that.

I wish you the happiest of Holidays. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have an awesome week.

Hello Simple Stories friends!

Marcia here today with a festive December layout I created with the Simple Stories Vintage Christmas collection. I wanted to use this collection, not for Christmas photos, but for one of my daughter's Senior photos. Being from Minnesota where we get lots of snow, it was fun to do a photo shoot of her with a toboggan and a winter hat and scarf. I wanted to show you that even though there are lots of adorable vintage Santas in this collection, it also works to document some everyday December moments. Here is my layout ...

Is there anyone besides me that is crushing on these plaid papers? That red buffalo plaid is the perfect background and really set off the chipboard frames which I adore! I chose two of the smaller single frames and printed my photo to fit inside one. In the other frame I used one of the 3x4 journaling cards. These frames are beautiful just the way they are or you can layer up other embellishments on top like I did. A woodgrain banner, stickers, washi tape, and snowflakes tucked underneath add even more layers.

To set off my title Snow Cute, I added a strip of the reindeer pattern paper across the bottom of the page. The die cut letters backed with the black buffalo plaid pattern paper really pop on the lighter background. I substituted a snowflake for the in the title and layered another reindeer over the top. He is so cute!

I know December is so hectic with Holiday gatherings but try to take a little time to slow down and capture the everyday winter activites too. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have an awesome weekend.
